Product Overview
SS Type Sleeper Screws are threaded railway fastening components used to secure sole plates, ribbed baseplates and other rail fastening assemblies to sleepers. In concrete sleeper applications, they are commonly installed with compatible plastic dowels or sleeves embedded in the sleeper; the screw thread must match the anchoring component. SS series models are available in different diameters and lengths for railway construction, track renewal and replacement projects. The "SS" designation refers to the sleeper screw series, not stainless steel.

Material, Grade & Surface Treatment
Common material selections include Q235, 35#, 45# and 40Cr, with mechanical grades such as 4.6, 5.6 and 8.8 available for SS-series railway screw spikes according to the applicable specification. Material and property requirements can also be defined by the project drawing.
Available surface treatments include:
• Plain / natural
• Plain oiled
• Zinc plated
• Hot-dip galvanized
• Painted or other specified finishes

Compatibility & Applications
• Rail fastening assemblies on concrete sleepers with compatible plastic dowels or sleeves
• Sole plates and ribbed baseplate fastening
• Railway track construction and renewal
• Track maintenance and replacement projects
• Replacement orders based on existing screw samples or drawings
• Bulk supply to railway fastening distributors and contractors
For replacement orders, provide the existing screw type, diameter, length, thread information and fastening-system details so compatibility with the anchoring component can be checked before production.

Manufacturing & Quality Control
Production can include material preparation, forming, heat treatment, surface treatment and final inspection according to the required product specification. Thread dimensions, overall dimensions, head configuration and surface condition are checked against the approved drawing or agreed standard.
Typical inspection scope includes:
• Dimensional inspection
• Thread gauge inspection
• Visual and surface inspection
• Material verification where specified
• Mechanical-property testing according to the agreed grade
• Surface-treatment inspection
• Quantity and packaging inspection
UIC 864-1 is commonly used for SS-series railway sleeper screws, while other standards or customer specifications can apply to project-specific designs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can SS sleeper screws be supplied as part of a complete fastening package?
A: Yes. Related components such as rail clips, plastic dowels, rail pads and other fastening parts can be supplied separately or combined into a project-specific purchasing list.
Q: What documents can accompany a bulk shipment?
A: Typical documentation can include a commercial invoice, packing list, material certificate and inspection report. EN 10204 3.1 material certification can be arranged when required by the purchase specification.
Q: Can third-party inspection be arranged?
A: Yes. Independent pre-shipment inspection can be arranged through an agreed inspection agency, with the inspection scope and acceptance criteria defined before production.
Q: Can mixed SS models be included in one purchase order?
A: Yes. Different SS types can be combined in one order. Each model should be listed separately with its required quantity, specification and surface treatment.
Q: Are urgent production orders possible?
A: Priority production can be discussed when production capacity permits. The confirmed delivery schedule depends on model availability, tooling and total order quantity.
Q: Can packaging be customized for container loading?
A: Yes. Packing can be adjusted by unit weight, pallet dimensions, container-loading requirements, destination regulations and customer handling preferences.
Q: Can the same SS model use different surface treatments?
A: Yes. A single SS model can generally be supplied with different specified finishes, provided the selected treatment is compatible with the project requirements and agreed before production.
Q: What should be included in an RFQ?
A: Provide the SS type, quantity, dimensions, thread requirements, material/strength grade, surface treatment, packaging requirements, destination and any applicable drawing or railway standard. This information allows the quotation and production basis to be confirmed accurately.
