Railway Track Components Quality Control & Inspection
GNEE RAIL applies quality control throughout the production and supply of steel rails, rail fastening systems, rail fasteners, rail joints, turnout components, and other railway track products. Inspection covers raw material verification, chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensional accuracy, heat treatment, surface condition, and final pre-shipment inspection.
The inspection scope is determined by the applicable product standard, approved drawings, technical specifications, purchase requirements, and agreed inspection criteria. Quality documentation and third-party inspection can be arranged according to product and project requirements.

Our 5-Stage Quality Inspection Process
We control product quality from incoming materials through final shipment. Critical inspection points are established according to the product and its technical requirements.
Raw Material Verification
We verify incoming steel and other production materials before they enter the manufacturing process. Our material inspection covers, where required:
• Steel grade and material specification
• Heat or cast number
• Chemical composition
• Material dimensions
• Surface condition
• Supplier material documentation
• Material Test Certificates
Laboratory Verification: For steel materials requiring chemical verification, we use appropriate laboratory testing methods to confirm the specified material grade. Material identification is maintained through the production process so that the relevant heat, batch, and inspection information can be connected to the finished product where traceability is required.
In-Process Quality Control
We inspect critical characteristics during forming, machining, heat treatment, surface treatment, and assembly. Our in-process checks can include:
• Dimensions: Forging and forming dimensions, machining dimensions, hole diameter and position
• Threads & Profiles: Thread pitch and profile
• Treatment & Hardness: Heat treatment results, hardness, and surface treatment
• Identification & Assembly: Product marking and component assembly
For drawing-based and customized railway components, our production team reviews the approved drawings and technical specifications before manufacturing. We identify critical dimensions, tolerances, material requirements, processing requirements, and inspection criteria before production begins.
Mechanical & Laboratory Testing
We use laboratory and inspection equipment to verify material and product properties required by the applicable specification. Our testing capabilities include:
• Chemical composition analysis
• Tensile strength testing, yield strength testing, and elongation testing
• Hardness testing & impact testing
• Fatigue and elasticity testing
• Metallographic examination
We do not apply the same test package to every railway product. The inspection items are determined by the product type, material grade, applicable standard, and confirmed project requirements.
Surface & Corrosion Inspection
We inspect the surface condition and protective treatment of finished components according to the specified requirements. Our inspection can cover:
• Surface Condition: Surface defects, cracks and deformation, burrs and processing marks
• Coating Verification: Coating condition, coating coverage, coating thickness
• Treatments & Marking: Galvanizing or zinc-based surface treatment, product marking
• Corrosion Resistance: Corrosion resistance testing where required
For fasteners and other components requiring additional corrosion protection, we can arrange the specified coating inspection and corrosion testing according to the project requirements.
Final Inspection & Shipment Release
Before shipment, we carry out a final conformity check against the confirmed order and technical requirements. Our final inspection covers:
• Product Verification: Product type and model, material, dimensions, and quantity
• Condition & Finish: Surface condition, coating, product marking, and packaging
• Logistics & Records: Batch identification and required quality documents
We verify the finished products before shipment so that the supplied configuration, quantity, packaging, and documentation correspond with the confirmed purchase requirements.
Our Testing Laboratory & Inspection Capabilities
Our quality control work is supported by laboratory testing and inspection equipment appropriate to the products we manufacture and supply.
Chemical Composition Analysis
We use optical emission spectrometry (OES), where applicable, to analyze the chemical composition of steel materials. Testing can verify elements such as:
• Carbon, Silicon, Manganese
• Phosphorus, Sulfur
• Chromium, Vanadium
• Other specified alloying elements
The test results are compared with the requirements for the confirmed material grade.
Tensile & Mechanical Property Testing
We perform or arrange mechanical testing according to the applicable product requirements. Testing can cover:
• Ultimate tensile strength
• Yield strength
• Elongation
• Reduction of area
• Other required mechanical properties
For railway components where mechanical performance is a specified acceptance criterion, the test results are recorded as part of the applicable quality documentation.
Hardness Testing
We use Rockwell and Brinell hardness testing methods where hardness is specified for the product. Hardness inspection can be applied to:
• Elastic rail clips
• Track spikes & track bolts
• Joint components & other heat-treated steel fasteners
The required hardness range is determined by the material, heat treatment, product specification, and applicable standard.
Fatigue & Elasticity Testing
For elastic fastening components, we can conduct or arrange fatigue and elasticity testing where required. The testing can be used to verify characteristics such as:
• Elastic behavior
• Clamping performance
• Residual deformation
• Fatigue performance
The test method and acceptance criteria are confirmed according to the applicable fastening system specification.
Metallographic Examination
For products requiring metallurgical verification, we can examine the material microstructure and heat treatment condition. Inspection may cover:
• Grain structure
• Heat treatment microstructure
• Decarburization
• Non-metallic inclusions
• Other specified metallurgical characteristics
This provides additional verification for products where material structure or heat treatment is a defined quality requirement.
Coating & Corrosion Testing
For coated or galvanized components, we inspect the specified surface treatment. Where required, corrosion resistance testing such as salt spray testing can be arranged according to the specified test method and acceptance criteria.

Material Traceability & EN 10204 3.1 MTC
We maintain material and batch information according to the traceability requirements of the product and project. Where EN 10204 Type 3.1 documentation is required, we can provide a 3.1 Material Test Certificate (MTC) according to the confirmed order requirements.
The relevant documentation can include:
• Heat or cast number & material grade
• Chemical composition & mechanical test results
• Batch identification & applicable material specification
• Inspection results where applicable
Quality Documentation for Railway Procurement
According to the product and project requirements, we can provide or arrange:
• EN 10204 3.1 MTC
• Chemical analysis reports & mechanical test reports
• Hardness test records & dimensional inspection reports
• Coating inspection records & final inspection reports
• Third-party inspection reports & other agreed quality documentation
We confirm the required documentation before production so that the inspection scope and delivery records are aligned with the purchase requirements.
Third-Party Inspection
We support independent third-party inspection when required by the buyer, project consultant, contract, or inspection plan. Third-party inspection can involve organizations such as:
• SGS
• Bureau Veritas
• TÜV
• Intertek
Depending on the agreed inspection scope, third-party inspectors can participate in:
• Factory inspection & material verification
• Product sampling & dimensional inspection
• Laboratory test witnessing
• Pre-shipment inspection & container loading supervision
We coordinate the inspection scope and timing with the buyer before the inspection takes place.
Quality Control Across Our Product Range
We apply product-specific inspection requirements rather than using one identical inspection procedure for every railway component.
